  • Ultrasonic – Houshold wall socket “plug in”digital display shows level in graduations.
  • Hydrostatic Analogue – Displays tank contents as a percentage or in litres.
  • Hydrostatic Digital – Battery or mains powered. Digital display shoes contents in litres, centimeters or as a percentage.
  • Pressure Sensor – Mains powered usuing a pressure sensor with digital display shoes contents in litres & as a percentage. High & low level tank alarm options.

Tank Gauges Lancashire – How accurate are they?

  • The more you pay the more accurate they are.
  • Float, Sight Gauge & Ultrasonic plug in types – these give an approximate indication of tank contents.
  • Hydrostatic Analogue – Accurate to approximately +/-2%.
  • Hydrostatic Digital – Accurate to +/- 1% of full scale (+/- 40mm).
  • Pressure Sensor type – Accurate to +/- 1%, 0.5% or 0.25% depending on the model selected.

What difference does it make?

Taking, as an example, a typical 40,000 litre capacity fuel storage tank – the reading on a gauge, with an accuracy of +/- 2% could be as much as 800 litres in error when the tank is full. In the same situation a gauge with an accuracy of +/- 1% could be up to 400 litres in error where as a gauge with an accuracy of +/-0.5% could result in a 200 litre error.
The larger the tank capacity the greater the margin for error with regards to contents measurement so the larger the tank the greater need for a higher accuracy when choosing tank gauges Lancashire.
