Rapid Response to Storm Desmond & Cumbria Floods
Following the recent floods in Cumbria, thousands of homes and businesses where hit with Storm Desmond and became submerged in over a metre of dirty water and debris. FuelQuip Ltd responded to an out-of-hours emergency call from a desperate customer requiring assistance to bring their fuel station back into operation.
Torrential downpours saw severe flooding across the North West of England, causing devastating destruction. Electricity and other emergency services were cut off, garages were swamped, and no fuel was available in the area throwing many businesses into turmoil.
FuelQuip attended a site at Lancaster where six fuel pumps had been subjected to severe damage with their systems immersed in contaminated flood water, silt and mud. A team of dedicated FuelQuip engineers were quickly dispatched and despite battling the onslaught of the persistent extreme weather, managed to bring the whole fuel management system along with all six of the fuel pumps back into operation within 48 hours.
Deborah Preston from FuelQuip Ltd commented,
“With our ‘Rapid Response and Repair Team’, our client was back up and running on the same day. They had the ability to fully dispense and monitor fuel from all pumps on site within 48 hours. We strive for site attendances to be resolved on the first visit; however under the circumstances, we are very pleased with this result.”
The disastrous impact from Storm Desmond has undoubtedly been catastrophic. Nevertheless, FuelQuip’s devotion to providing a fast and reliable service shone through, as they went above and beyond during these difficult times to exceed customers’ expectations.
